American doctors are not just known for their good treatment of their patients. Many of them are also well known for discovering such diseases as diabetes. In fact many American doctors have even managed to get a Nobel Prize for their selfless works.

Here is a list of some of the famous American Doctors:

Charles Horace mayo is the first in our list. He was the main founder of the world famous Mayo clinic which has we all know is a non- profit medical organization that is known the world over.

This famous clinic has its headquarters based in Rochester which can be found in Minnesota.

Another founder member of this clinic was Charles\’s eldest sibling. He was called William James Mayo and he completed his medical studies around 1880 then went on to help his father at his clinic. This is the same clinic that was later transformed to become the world famous Mayo clinic.

Another famous American doctor was the physician William Osler Abbott. Abbott is commonly known as the father of modern medicine and invented the Miller – Abbott tube with two lumens.

Then there was the founder of the term psychoanalysis, this was invented by Benjamin Spock who in 1946 wrote his famous Baby and child care book. Such was his passion about the care of children that his intensive studies soon became famously known as the study of psychoanalysis.

The cure for Polio was found by one Jonas Salk who was in fact the son of immigrant Jewish/Russian parentage. He later went on to study and research many other viruses too.

Lastly there was Elliot P Joslin who was well known for his study of diabetes. He formed the self help diabetes program in which he used to inform his patients about his knowledge of the disease. He later went on to form the famous Joslin Diabetes Center.
